Drunk driver vs current car insurance policies/rules

Post by sevenseaters on Thu 20 Oct 2011, 1:17 pm

Something serious attracts my attention,
It's about car regulation rules in Singapore Shocked pale
I just realized, how "bad" it is.
Some correction regulations/rules MUST BE put in place immediately!!!

For those who may not notice about the car insurance policies/rules in SG, there is actually big loophole on it

In general
- there are dillemas with the car insurance policies/rules in terms of facing situation of accident that involves drunk drivers on the SG road
- the car insurance policies/rules are not in customer's favor (i would say) scratch
- Car insurance in SG is a MUST, or else, you can't even use your car on the road as without car insurance in first place the authority will not release the road tax, plate number etc

situations are like this:
1. Driver A (drunk)
2. Driver B (victim)
3. There was car accident that involved between car A and car B
4. Insurance car A will not recognize nor process claim to cover the car damage for B
(FYI all insurance company in SG apply this T&C)
5. As the driver B was the victim, and yet, he could not get anything from insurance A, he must claim it by him self to his own insurance, that will effect next year insurance package (No Claim Discount, Premium etc)
6. Driver A, "merely" have penalty/jail, driver license suspend/revoke etc
7. It's simply not fair for driver B as he need to absorb all the consequences by himself on the fault that others made.

It is a hot topic now in sg carmart

DRIVE SAFE, FOR YOU AND FOR YOUR FAMILY
